Groundwater
In support of the Water Security Agency mandate, the Groundwater Management Division provides a number of services to both the public and private sectors. Major functions of the Branch include:
- Regulates Groundwater Withdrawals
The Division is responsible for administering Groundwater Rights Licenses and Approvals to Construct and Operate for wells and other ground water works;
- Provides Groundwater Information
This includes information on potential groundwater location, groundwater quality, well yields and water well construction, maintenance and decommissioning to the public, municipalities, industry and other government agencies;
In addition to these major functions, the Division also provides hydrogeologic expertise to other divisions of the Water Security Agency, Saskatchewan Environment in the review of environmental project proposals and to Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture in the review of intensive livestock operation proposals.
