Business Plan
Business Plan
This year’s plan reflects the progress we have made as an agency in supporting the province’s growth plan and the continued improvements we will make in the coming year.
Last year, we strengthened agricultural water management, added more irrigated acres, surpassing our growth targets, and made significant investments in maintaining and upgrading the critical water infrastructure our province relies on.
In 2026-27, we are focused on supporting economic growth while safeguarding the water resources and services Saskatchewan communities, the environment, industry and producers depend on every day. Our goals are clear: modernize how we work, deepen collaboration with partners, and ensure our decisions are informed by science, data and long-term planning.
To support this work, several key initiatives will be advanced, including:
- Advancing the environmental assessment and engineering design of the Westside Irrigation Rehabilitation Project and continue to move the project forward.
- Working with producers and stakeholders to develop and implement cost-sharing frameworks for irrigation expansion.
- Monitoring the effectiveness of the Agricultural Water Stewardship Policy with ongoing research; and
- Ensuring the province is prepared for extreme weather events, including drought and flood.
These initiatives are designed to improve service delivery, enhance sustainability and position the province to respond effectively to emerging challenges and opportunities.
None of this work happens in isolation. Our success depends on strong relationships with the communities, producers, industries and stakeholders we work alongside every day. Their expertise, practical insight and commitment is essential to achieving meaningful and lasting results.
