AgH2Onward (No prerequisite)
AgH2Onward is the first of the four required courses that people must take if they are seeking QP accreditation and it is a prerequisite for the Introductory Qualified Person Training/ADAM course.
AgH2Onward focuses on:
- WSA’s Agricultural Water Management Strategy and how it is designed to improve the livelihood of producers
- Tools for agricultural water management and to improve farm efficiency and profitability
- How to be better stewards of the land
- Decision making and ways to work together to reduce conflict
- How to secure a drainage approval that can be transferred to the next generation or with the land title if the land is sold
AgH2Onward is a free online course with videos and readings that promotes responsible agricultural water management. It provides attendees with information about the Water Security Agency’s drainage approval process. The goal of the course is to help producers improve the efficiency of their farm while at the same time implementing stewardship-focused mitigation tools to reduce the impacts of drainage to water quantity, water quality, habitat and soil health.

Introductory Qualified Persons/ADAM Training Course
The Introductory Qualified Persons (QP) Training/ADAM course is designed to ensure qualified persons have the skills they need to work as a QP.
The purpose of this course is to provide QPs with the knowledge and tools to help agricultural producers design and develop responsible agricultural drainage projects that support farm efficiency and soil health, reduce farm inputs, and increase food production, all while still practicing environmental stewardship.
The course will include introductory concepts that are important to ensure QPs have the appropriate skills and knowledge necessary to assist in the continued growth and resiliency of the agricultural sector. Learners will also learn how to use WSA’s ADAM (Agricultural Drainage Application Mapping) software to map wetlands and drainage works. The training will provide learners the chance to use ADAM to work through a case study drainage network.
The course is targeted at professionals who have related knowledge and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree. This is typically professionals who have a P.Ag, P.Eng., or A.Sc.T. designation; however, other professionals with experience in this area are also eligible to take the course.

Point of Adequate Outlet Course (Pre-requisite is the ADAM Course)
This course will provide participants with:
- An explanation of key technical concepts required to determine the Point of Adequate Outlet (PAO).
- A generalized approach for hydrological assessment of the PAO.
- Step by step instructions procedures for determination of the PAO for a drainage application.
- An adequate outlet worksheet for submission with an application for drainage works.
The delivery of this course consists of an asynchronous component and a day in the field. The field day will focus on learning how to use survey equipment and ID plants. This information will help QPs to assess if a location along a crown-owned waterway/waterbody is an adequate outlet for a drainage project.
Course dates:
- Thursday, August 7, 2025 (9am and 3:30pm), Yorkton, SK
- Wednesday September 24, 2025 (9 am – 4pm) Moose Jaw, SK

Capstone Project
A QP Capstone Project is an additional requirement that WSA has implemented for all candidates who want to become an accredited QP. The capstone project is completed after all QP training courses are finished. It will involve a real-life drainage project to showcase the QP candidate’s critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, while deepening their practical understanding. A capstone project is named after the capstone that completes an architectural structure, it marks the final requirement a candidate must complete before applying to WSA to become an accredited QP.
The capstone project is completed with mentorship from a WSA Technologist, enabling QP candidates to apply all the information that they’ve learned from the QP courses to complete a drainage project successfully.
